MINAGRIS reflects on inconclusive Global Plastics Treaty negotiations

We have been reflecting on the inconclusive progress made during recent Global Plastics Treaty Negotiations – and thought we’d update our followers about the current state of play.

The European Union has expressed regret over the inconclusive progress made during recent negotiations on a global treaty to tackle plastic pollution. Despite significant global attention and ambitious goals, the latest round of talks were unable to result in concrete commitments, leaving key issues unresolved

The EU have said that they remain steadfast in advocating for a legally binding agreement that includes comprehensive measures to reduce plastic waste and its environmental impact. 🌍

While the outcome was less decisive than hoped, the discussions marked another step toward addressing the urgent challenge of global plastic pollution.

At MINAGRIS, we continue to emphasize the critical need for science-based policies to mitigate the environmental and human health risks posed by plastics and microplastics. This moment highlights the importance of unified global action and collaboration across governments, industries, and communities to ensure meaningful change.
