The MINAGRIS project will assess the impact of plastic debris in agricultural soils on biodiversity,

plant productivity and ecosystem services and their transport and degradation in the environment.

We will provide tools and recommendations for sustainable use of plastic in agriculture at the farm

and field levels for ensuring safe and economically viable food systems in Europe.

MINAGRIS aims to contribute to healthy soils in Europe by providing a deeper understanding and tools to assess the impact of microplastics and nanoplastics in agricultural soil health.

MINAGRIS and PAPILLONS joint stakeholder forum: towards a one-health approach for the risk assessment of micro- and nano-plastics

 20230912 183840 1

This joint stakeholder forum was held at the end of the AGRIFOODPLAST Conference and was open to conference and external participants. The workshop is part of a series of high level stakeholder forum organised jointly by the MINAGRIS and PAPILLONS projects to share findings and solicit feedback from international and EU level stakeholders. On this occasion COST Action PRIORITY also joined the organising team. The workshop chairs were Julie Ingram: MINAGRIS Horizon project; Luca Nizzetto: PAPILLONS Horizon project; Stefania Federici: PRIORITY (Plastics Monitoring Detection Remediation Recovery) COST action.

Aims and scope

This workshop brought together experts, researchers, policy makers, industry, international agency and NGO representatives to explore the environmental and health risks associated with micro and nanoplastic in agri-food chains and how they can be assessed, measured and mitigated. This is in the context of the need to address research gaps with respect to risk assessment methodologies, and to remove uncertainties to enable policy development. With over forty participants in person and online respectively attended.

MINAGRIS goes to Italy: the inaugural AgriFoodPlast conference and our annual plenary

IMG 1911 Small

We’ve been busy lately, with the Italian partners at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza, Italy, doing a fantastic job of hosting the inaugural AgriFoodPlast conference, and then going straight on to host our annual plenary. This gave most of teams from both MINAGRIS, and sister project Papillons, the opportunity to gather together, share our findings and make plans for the year ahead.
