Overall structure of the work programme

MINAGRIS work plan articulates step by step along 6 technical WPs, under the global framework of the coordination and Management work package (WP1) together with the Multi-Actor approach ensured by WP2 and WP8:

 

WP1 is dedicated to the management of the overall project activities, WP2 is the place for organising and harmonising activities conducted at the CSS. Therefore, WP2 is responsible for establishing a monitoring plan that will determine, describe and harmonize the methods used at CSS and related to soil and site characterization (baselines, soil properties including chemical, physical, and biological indicators, etc.). It is also in WP2 that MAPs will be developed at each CSS, thanks to which a large variety of stakeholders will be engaged. The overall data management structures (database) and methods will also be designed and harmonized in WP2. WP3 will perform an inventory of the plastic uses in agriculture, including both intentional and unintentional sources (baseline), and will develop and validate the analytical methods used for the determination of MNP concentrations in soil. The methodology to quantify MNP levels will be standardized in Task 3.3 and included in the monitoring plan (D2.3). The soil samples taken to measure the baseline at the CSS will set the standards for (i) designing multi-scale experiments to evaluate the impact of MNP on the chemical, physical and biological soil quality indicators in WP4 and WP5 (ii) following the disaggregation, degradation and transfer processes controlling the environmental fate of MNP and their potential to contaminate other interlinked environmental compartments in WP6. Moreover, the CSS data collected from farmer interviews, agronomical results and soil analyses in T3.2 will provide the information needed to select CSS for back-to-the-field experiments in WP5 and WP6. All results produced in the tasks will be stored in the database managed by WP2. This data will be analysed by WP7 for an overall sustainability assessment with a special focus on the impact of MNP on related ecosystem services. Based on this main result, a practical toolbox for farmers to assess their fields and farm exposure to plastic contamination will be developed as well as briefing documents for all stakeholders. Exploitation of the project results and communication and dissemination will be ensured in WP8.
